One day, a man said to me, that pride is like bad breath, you have it but you can’t smell it!…However, others can!…

Self-Sufficiency
Arrogance
Lordly
Stiff-Necked
Big-Headedness
Haughtiness
Snobbery
Stubbornness

Pride, just makes people blind!…

Obviously one will reap the consequences of his pride with bad decisions in life. No wonder that it was the tool that made Lucifer ( An angel of light ) in to the Devil.

When people have difficulty to submit to their authorities, to hear someone, than becomes an issue that needs to be addressed.

Concerning spiritual life and a relationship with God, many are those that just turn a blind eye to God’s ordinances, by doing things their own way.

Sentences like:

I think, God understands, it’s not like that, today it’s different…

Jeremiah 43:1:-2

“Now it happened, when Jeremiah had stopped speaking to all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, all these words, 2 that Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah, “You speak falsely! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, ‘Do not go to Egypt to dwell there.’”

One of the questions that I often ask people is a simple straight forward question. How is your life? The awkward is that majority of times people reply with the same answer: Not so bad, thanks!…

I always reply saying: Ok, so that means something is bad isn’t it? It takes a while for people to realize that it’s true!…Something is definitely bad!..

The issue is not on the answer, rather on the way of thinking. It’s like the person is saying:

  • Never mind this situation
  • It’s better if I don’t think about it
  • Let me avoid that conversation
  • I don’t want trouble
  • I don’t care
  • I can’t complain, others are worst
  • Let me turn a blind eye to it
It shows complacency and acceptance of the problem, trying to skip or avoiding a way to deal with it. What can that person expect? Can the problem be sorted out?
Another view of the issue is to accept what we call AVERAGE.
I mean, average is not so bad isn’t? But shouldn’t we strive to raise our standards? Is that it? I’m sure every one can perform better, can enhance their skills, have a better marriage, better job or income. The list is endless…a better character, better mother, wife, etc..
For those who truly believe in God, “Not so bad is out of the equation!…Why? Because He is great and mighty and that’s how my life has to be!..Great!… obviously in all aspects of life!..

Psalm 84:11

New International Version (NIV)

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
