Tick the box

In a persons conception, when someone asks: How’s everything? The answer is: Not so bad or it’s ok.

Why? Because they are ticking their own boxes.

Finances: Fairly good

Health: ok

Family: Working on it

Love life: In a relationship

etc…

But what about ticking God’s Boxes?

  • Faithfulness
  • Commitment
  • Obedience to God’s word
  • Truthfulness
  • Sincerity
  • Good eyes
  • Sanctity
  • Holiness
  • Humbleness
  • Patience
  • Spirituality
  • Honesty
  • Tither
  • Evangelist
  • Forgiveness

The list is truly endless…

The point is: One can tick all boxes in life, however if one doesn’t tick God’s boxes we are poor, blind and naked.

Psalm 39:5

“(…)Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor.”

Food for thought:

Matthew 6:19-21

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

“19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

setting the pace

Usually we want to do things our own way, as we think is best or more convenient for us. We want to set the pace.

But what does it means “Setting the Pace” , you may ask?

Definition:

Set the pace is to do something that establishes a standard.

Please meditate on the following word:

Romans 3:28

(The Message)

“We’ve finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.”

Many people’s lives are out of step with God, just because they aren’t following Him!…The pride and anxiety takes over and we end up running our own parade! Mankind has a huge problem called self-sufficiency!…We don’t want to depend on nothing and no one!…The average person doesn’t like to be told off, rebuked or corrected. So because of that pride takes over and we get out of step with God. On the other hand is anxiety, by wanting things to be done in our time,  taking the lead without waiting the right time.

What has been the result of you running your parade (Life)?

If we look up to our lives, how many bad decisions we took that end up reflecting very badly? We can see that in love life, relationships, finances, health wise, career, family, etc..

For many, 2012 wasn’t that good exactly because of that!..Or you may say : “It wasn’t that bad”. I say to you: It could have been better, if you have allowed God to set the pace and run your parade.

What can you expect from 2013? Well, if you allow Him to set the parade and run your Parade, most certainly an excellent year ahead of you.

Now let me give you some hints and tips so that you allow God to run your parade.

  • Present your goals and targets to God, trough prayer and ask Him if that is of His will. Remember, men makes plans, but the Lords directs his path. (Proverbs 16:21)
  • Be faithful and obedient to His word
  • Humility comes before honor
  • Cut off anxiety by not following your emotions, rather your intelligence.

You have to make up a decision this year….Who will run your parade? Who’s gone set the pace?

The heroes of faith, overcame battles, challenges and went against the odds!…Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Gideon, Daniel, David, etc…are just few of the all examples we have got in the Holy Scriptures. All of them had 3 things in common!…They were “Blind”, “Deaf” and “Numbed”. I’m not speaking physically wise rather spiritually.

Bear with me.

If you want to succeed you have to be just like that:

1st- Blind for the circumstances around you. When one wants to conquer something doesn’t matter the adversities, setbacks, etc…You just keep going. Please see the post of the Rule of faith.

2nd- Deaf for the negativity all around you, either by what people say or by the words that come to your mind, doubts, fears, etc…

3rd- Numbed to emotions and feelings. One has to live by faith, meaning, believing in the invisible so that the visible may come to pass.

Hebrews 11:32-34

New King James Version (NKJV)

32 And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: 33 who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises,  stopped the mouths of lions, 34 quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.”

Mathew 25:1

Out of those 10 virgins 5 were prepared to meet the bridegroom, other 5 didn’t prepare themselves.

All of the 10 took their lamps, which represent what we have.

What do we have?

  • We have our faith
  • We have our works
  • We have our character
  • We have our testimony
  • We have our conscience

They went out to meet the bridegroom – We must encounter with God in a daily basis and present what we have.

A bride has a special care with her body before getting married and in the same way we need to have this care in our spiritual life, so  let’s analyze:

  • Bath – To remove all the dirtiness and impurity. In the same way we should wash ourselves every day from things that can contaminate our spirit. E.g.Grudges, malice, judging, lies, pride, doubts, etc…
  • Waxing  – To take away what is ugly in the body. What can be ugly in our spirit? E.g: To shout, gossip, not be kind, impatience, etc…
  • Make up – To look better and cover the skin imperfections. We can pretend that we are something that we aren’t. In church being someone and at home a different person. Sometimes people try to hide what’s inside, with lack of sincerity towards God.
  • Hair – She does the hair and protects the hair with different kinds of products. The same way we need to protect our mind and what comes inside: e.g.Thoughts and fears.
  • Lingerie – She prepares the moment of intimacy with her husband. No bride gets married and uses the same underwear that she wears everyday, because it is a special moment. With God is not different, if we do the same things, use the same language, entertaining the same thoughts, we will not have special moments with Him. We need to prepare ourselves to enjoy special moments with God and nothing and no one can interfere in this moment. ( The intimacy with God)
  • Wedding Dress – Is the last thing she wears. And the dress can represent the Holy Spirit that only comes when we are cared, cleansed and treated inside.

The 5 foolish virgins weren’t prepared and therefore they were left out and couldn’t meet the groom (Lord Jesus).

Either we are part of the 5 wise or the 5 foolish!..Whom you are?

Collaboration of Ana Bacala.

The great majority of people have their own insight of how things are. They look at life with common eyes, the natural ones, given to feelings and emotions. However there are those who see things in a different way, they see it trough God’s eyes, His iris, His insight!…

I was reading the following Scripture when something strikes me and caught me attention.

Acts 7:55-56

(NKJV)

55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

It speaks bout Stephen a men full of the Holy Spirit.

He gazed into heaven!…That’s where our eyes have to be, ( Not physical, rather spiritually). We must aim for what is spiritual.  When one is full of the Holy Spirit, than he can see things trough God’s eyes!…His vision, guidance, awareness, discernment, etc… His Iris!…

Stevens’s eyes and spiritual perception were literally in another world!…“Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”. He gave himself over to locking his eyesight on the Lord Jesus and cause everything else to become dim or disappear in his perception or reality. He was on other “realm”, so much so that the physical was being overlooked ( Being stoned to death).

Others criticized him ( Stephen) and could not bear what he was saying!…It was madness for them or a blasphemy!…That’s what average people do when see those who are “Different”, they stoned them with words, rejection and criticism.

Trough which iris have you been seeing?

Be Done!…

BE + DONE

It’s simple maths.

Before you do it you have to be.

As for me it’s a simple matter of focusing on how I am, rather on what I do, especially at the eyes of God. Religiousness makes people to do things, without being. Religious people go to church, however keep holding grudges, malice, hatred, smoking, swearing, living in fornication, adultery, sexual promiscuity, etc…the list is endless.

What I do is a strict consequence of what I am.

If I am a bitter person, lacking patience, malicious, unforgiving, stubborn, stiff-necked and proud, lazy, given to emotions, pleasing my cravings and desires, etc… How things will go for me?

Certainly, I will have problems in my family, marriage or relationships, job and overall life. It’s very easy to understand that majority of our problems starts inside. If by one side that’s true, by the other side of the coin, that’s exactly where our problems start to change.

How? You may ask?

When you focus in BEING!

*Be Faithful

*Be Obedient

*Be Pure

*Be Wise

*Be Honest

*Be Patient

*Be Gentle

*Be Kind

*Be Lovely

Mathew 6:10

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”

Do not take me wrong!..We have to do….but to be, comes first.

bodyguard (or close protection officer) is a type of security operative or government agent who protects a person or persons — usually a public, wealthy, or politically important figure(s) VIP’S — from danger: generally theft, assault, kidnapping, homicide, harassment, loss of confidential information, threats, or other criminal offenses.

The Bodyguard is the ensurer of the wellbeing and safety of those whom are being protected.

Let me present you “God’s Bodyguard”

Yes, God’s word!..

When there is obedience upon the Holy Scriptures, then we are backed up by His promises!…The word of God comes to life in our lives when there is action, obedience and total surrender to him. Then we will be made well, safe, prosper, be healed, etc…We can boldly demand God’s intervention because we are doing our part. There is assurance, confidence and total trust in God’s promises. There is no place for fear, doubts or anything else.

Are you backed up?

We live in a “Fighting Ring” between the desires of the heart and the guidance of our mind!…It’s the Ultimate Fight!…where our life is decided and our fate outlined.

Those who are led by their heart, meaning emotions, feelings and cravings are going to be deceived by it!…That’s one of the greatest characteristics of the heart, it deceives leading to the wrong decisions.

We see that in love life, whereby one is led to a relationship just because fell in love with someone, without using his brain!…Later on that relationship becomes a nightmare!…

The heart is very sensitive, emotional, weak, wants to feel. The heart leads to fleshly and carnal behavior, sexual promiscuity, fornication, adultery, pornography, lust, drunkenness, hatred, grudges, malice, etc..

Galatians 5:19-20

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

On the other side of the coin we have the Mind. It’s our intellect, that is linked with an intelligent faith,  backed up by the word of God. When we follow, obey and trust in God’s direction, trough His word, we will never be mislead to the wrong path!…How, you may ask? Because God will never lead us wrongly, he will guide us to the truth and obviously  take the wright decisions in life.

Perhaps you have be knocked out, punched by the heart!…You gotta stand up and start using your mind, your intellect. How? Follow God’s instructions. Certainly you will overcome the “Ultimate Fight!…”.

Some people ask what it is that steers a ship. Automobiles have a steering wheel connected to the two front wheels: ships have a slightly different system. Instead of wheels to turn, there is a rudder. The rudder directs water in a different direction as it passes over the surface. The ship  can move the rudder left and right depending on the direction that is need. Without a rudder the ship will be adrift.

The proportion in terms of size is very small, compared with the size of the boat, however plays a capital importance in a boat.

In life,we need something to guide our lives, to steer us in the good direction, to avoid the “Icebergs” and to be lost in the sea. Many are those who have a “nice boat”, with a good propeller, and engine, meaning good skills, education, stablished marriage, nice job, etc..however they lack the guidance that will lead this boat to the good port.

Let me present you the “Spiritual rudder”- The Holy Spirit!..

It makes the following tasks:

  • Gives guidance in where to go
  • Enable us to take decisions with our mind, not emotions
  • Warn us from potential dangerous, like a yellow traffic light
  • It show us what not to do
  • Strengths and boosts
  • Makes one to overcome doubt and fear, gives assurance

It helps to sort out daily task and issues in life.

Is this the right person to be with? Is this the right career for me? How am I going to sort this out?

The question is:

ARE YOU ADRIFT?

John 16:13

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

In the light of my last post, ( All you need is that tiny bit), I would like to add something.

http://elijahblogfire.com/2012/02/29/all-you-need-is-that-tiny-bit/

As you can see on the photo, there are two people in the process:

The main climber who motions upwards, he has to make all the effort, place his skills, balance and strength…. and the security men. It’s a partnership. One doesn’t work without the help of the other.

The main climber starts to clim with a rope that is attached to the security men.

The security man has a very important role on the ascending and descending. His role on the climbing are 2:

  • Provide rope for the climber, to progress in his motion and use his ( Quickdraws- a set of carabiners) to pass the the rope.
  • In case there is a fall ( There are plenty of them!..), the security man breaks it.

Now, in life that’s exactly the same!…We are the main climber, whereby we have to use our skills, strength and effort. God is the “Security Men”, who is there to provide you the “rope”, meaning, to give you the conditions and all the support you need, to move forward in life. Not only that, He will be there in case of a “fall”, to make sure that no harm will come to you.

Note that in life, we will stumble and fall sometimes!…God never said that our journey would be without any “Fall” whatsoever…

When you look up to this picture what comes to your mind? A car without fuel. The person may have the best car, however it will only move powered by fuel. Up to here, there’s nothing that you didn’t know already. Let me dare to make a parallel, between a car, that will represent our lives and the fuel that moves it.

Our live is always in movement like a car, from point A to point B. Why is that many people’s lives, all of a sudden stop?..Get stuck, unfruitful and stagnant?  Exactly the lack of fuel!..But what fuel am I speaking?

Let me present “God’s Fuel”- The Holy Spirit!…

  • It’s the Holy Spirit that makes you move in the right direction, it makes your “Engine” to work properly, meaning, your intellect above emotions.
  • It’s this “Fuel” that keeps you on going upon adversities, barriers and setbacks.
  • This “Fuel” empowers you against doubts, fears, complexes, anxiety and negativity.
  • This “Fuel” makes you overcome your desires, cravings and temptations.
  • This “Fuel” enables one to overcome sin.
  • This “Fuel” makes you a heavenly being, a child of God.

Are you stuck? Unfruitful? Stagnant?

Beware!….You have a car…..without Fuel!…

I have heard many times people saying: Always follow your heart….However let me say to you: Don’t do it!…

Let me give you some reasons why:

The heart is the source and fountain of the emotions, and therefore very unreliable.

The heart is not a good counselor, because it’s “Voice” makes one fulfill it’s cravings.

The heart doesn’t think.

The heart’s desires blinds the truth and what is reasonable.

The heart is corrupted with pride, malice and hatred.

Do you still want to follow him?

Give a glance to the following counseling:

Jeremiah 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?

There are two ways one can get water…from a well or from a fountain. Let me explain the difference between the two of them and what lesson we can draw from it!…

The water that comes from the well, because it’s still get’s easily contaminated, so filtration is needed of Bio-contaminants, inorganics, organics, dangerous MTBE found virtually in all aquifers.  Filtration removes sulphur and it’s rotten egg odors, iron, hardness, lime and scale; addresses bacteria, viruses, dangerous cysts,  and completely softens and conditions all of the water. Usually this water  is used to other usage than domestic drinking, like watering fields and crops.

The water that comes from a proper fountain is always in movement, therefore it renews itself. Dissolved Oxygen is a major contributor to water quality. It’s drinkable, because has quality.

Now let’s make a parallel spiritually wise:

Give a glance to the following:

Jeremiah 2:13

New Century Version (NCV)

“My people have done two evils:
They have turned away from me,
 the spring of living water.
And they have dug their own wells,
which are broken wells that cannot hold water.”
  1. Those that one day were “Drinking” from God and stopped.
  2. Those that “Drink” from their own “Well”
Let’s break it down:
The first example, is regarding those that once were active in the faith…and somehow, left the communion with God. In the same way that the water in movement brings life and quality to the water, the same happens when one exercises his faith!…Not just to say I have it!..
The Second example, is regarding those that decided to trust in their own capabilities, skills, intelligence and resources. The truth is, that sooner or later there will be situations, problems and adversities whereby that “Water” will no longer be of help!…
In a nutshell:
Those who “Drink” from God, the true fountain, are healthy in every aspect of life and above all inwardly.
Those who “Drink ” from their own wells, are bound to get some “Bacteria”.
What kind of water are you drinking?

One of the most common difficulties that people have in life, is to distinguish between 3 different “Voices”:

  1. Your own
  2. Evil
  3. Good

All human beings, without exception are exposed to this 3 different “Voices”, and depending which one you will listen, you will succeed or fail in life.

The issue here is, how to distinguish those “Voices”? How to identify what is coming to my mind? Hence, that I’m not speaking about audible voices, rather, thoughts, ideas and inspirations!…

Let’s identify our Own “Voice”:

  • Uses emotions
  • It’s lead by our cravings and desires
  • Doesn’t think in the consequences

The Evil “Voice”:

  • Brings doubts
  • Confusion
  • Division or Separation
  • Cast’s you down
  • Revenge and hatred
  • Fear

The Good “Voice”:

  • Uses your intellect
  • Uplifts
  • Encourages
  • Gives certainty
  • Empowers
  • Confidence
  • Boldness

One must be in a state of spiritual awareness, in order to identify and discern about those voices. They will come when you are by yourself, with friends, family members, colleagues, etc…We must be able to filter what comes in, otherwise we will be polluted and contaminated.

Job 34:3

” For the ear tests words
As the palate tastes food.”

When you taste something that you don’t like, you just trow it isn’t it? What about those negative “Voices”?

One day, a man said to me, that pride is like bad breath, you have it but you can’t smell it!…However, others can!…

Self-Sufficiency
Arrogance
Lordly
Stiff-Necked
Big-Headedness
Haughtiness
Snobbery
Stubbornness

Pride, just makes people blind!…

Obviously one will reap the consequences of his pride with bad decisions in life. No wonder that it was the tool that made Lucifer ( An angel of light ) in to the Devil.

When people have difficulty to submit to their authorities, to hear someone, than becomes an issue that needs to be addressed.

Concerning spiritual life and a relationship with God, many are those that just turn a blind eye to God’s ordinances, by doing things their own way.

Sentences like:

I think, God understands, it’s not like that, today it’s different…

Jeremiah 43:1:-2

“Now it happened, when Jeremiah had stopped speaking to all the people all the words of the LORD their God, for which the LORD their God had sent him to them, all these words, 2 that Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah, “You speak falsely! The LORD our God has not sent you to say, ‘Do not go to Egypt to dwell there.’”

Everything in life follows a natural law and there are things that are just the natural course of life. Amidst of this natural course of life and nature we come face to face with many setbacks, barriers, obstacles and sometimes even tragedies.  Now, we have two options:

  1. Accept what is considered the “Normal” and say: “It’s Life!..”
  2. Reject this so called “Natural Law” and BYPASS IT.

Bear with me, and I will explain it better.

If one follows number 1, meaning, accepting things as they are, the tendency is to enter in a comfort zone, resignation and complacency, towards your goals and objectives in life. Why? Because that’s how life is many times, UNFAIR!…There will always be negative things trying to knock our door in Finances, Love Life, Relationships, Health wise, Career, Family matters, Traumas, Fear, Anxiety, Doubts, etc…

Obviously that your expectations it will always be restricted to the normal course of things. Eg. The doctor said there is no cure, the solicitor gave me bad news, I haven’t got the means, There’s no way out, it’s the writhing on the wall,etc..

Now, if you follow number 2, you must use one tool to Bypass that “Natural Law” which is called FAITH.Not just saying I have faith, rather using your faith and determine the impossible in your life. How? Through the word of faith, not based in what you see or feel, or any other negative circumstance!…

We see Joshua used the word and the Sun stood still, Elijah determined and fire came down from heavens, Peter walked upon the waters, Jesus Cursed the Fig tree and it dried,  Jesus said to Jairus’s daughter that was dead: Tálita Cumi, meaning rise, etc..

You can as well BYPASS your “Natural Laws” of life, sickness, negative cycles, “Impossibles” and your “Writings on the Wall”!..

Start doing in now by saying No to this negative situation and fight back with all your strength.
