The Perishable or Imperishable?

Almost everything that we may achieve in this world has an expiry date!.. Usualy we think about that when we buy our groceries isn’t it? What is the first thing we do? We look to the expiry date!..Simply because we know that after that, it becomes perishable. Now, what about our own lives? Our loved ones? All the Possetions, Title, Position, Status and all the assets we may achieve?
Everything will fade and perish. Even us!.. One day we will depart from this body, and all that we have achieved will become someones property or eventualy perish as well.
The inteligent person doesn’t “race” for the perishable “Crowns” of this World rather for the one that doesn’t perish, which is our Salvation!..
We will not be negligent, complancent, laid back or lazy concerning our daily lives! However we must know that sooner or later an expiry date will come!.. Sometimes this expiry date is unnown!.. It can happen any day!..
Obviously that we must strive to finish this “race”, endure persecutions, deny ourselves daily and let go of our cravings and desires.
Hence the following : I Corinthians 9:24-27
Striving for a Crown

24″ Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.”

Which Crown have you been striving for? The Perishable or Imperishable?

Food for though:

Luke 12:16-21

16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’ 18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’
21 “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

  19. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

    • Pr.Elijah says:

      Dear Rhonda,

It’s not that complicated!..Everything has an expiry date!…Everything will perish in at a certain stage of life. Our assets, all that we have conquered and our own body!…So what should we focus on? In something that in few years will perish? Or in what will not perish? The only thing we take from here, in our journey after our death, is our eternity. Now one must make a choice WHERE you will spend it!… According to the Holy Scriptures, there’s only 2 places: Heavens or Hell.
To go to Heavens you need to surrender your life to Jesus Christ 100% and strive to obey Him. To go to hell, well, one doesn’t need to do anything!…The sinful nature will lead one to be far from God and please his desires and cravings.
