The Rock

Hi I decided to share this with you.

1 Corinthians 10:1-5

1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

(When we embrace the faith in God trough the Lord Jesus, we will pass trough hardship, as our fathers of old passed, the wilderness. In a certain point of our Christian journey we will put to the test, our faithfulness, our obedience, perseverance, trust and spirit of sacrifice)

3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

(What really stroke me when I was reading this passage is that even in hardship, amidst of all the issues that they faced, God was with them. But how was God with them? The Holy Spirit hadn’t come yet neither the Lord Jesus, or even the Scriptures they had. So how did they nourish themselves with spiritual food and drink? How did they drink of the spiritual Rock?

They were obedient to God’s authority-Moses. God would speak face to face with Moses and he would give instructions to the people. When we give heed or ears to what the men of God say, we are drinking and eating spiritually. Another detail is that Jesus is called the Rock. And the main characteristic of the rock is hardness isn’t it?

Those who drink and eat of the Rock (Jesus), those that have a Pact with God they become strong, hard, bold, courageous, unbeatable, unemotional. Something else we need to consider is that even we don’t see or feel the presence of God, he is there, we have to trust in Him, if we seek His guidance.)

5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

(Many of those that left Egypt, died in the wilderness. Why? They displeased God trough their unbelief and rebellious spirit. They complained, mourned, rebelled against Moses, etc..)

I’m impressed, I have to say. Very rarely do I come across a blog that is both educational and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your thoughts is important; the issue is something that not enough people are talking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
