Recently came to my knowledge a true story of a man who was eaten by lions, when he crossed trough a protected wildlife natural reserve in South Africa, in order to enter illegally in the country. Two courageous man, decided to walk the distance of two to tree day journey, trough this natural reserve whereby lions and all sort of wild beasts are around.
They came a cross with the idea of lighting a campfire by night, to keep the beasts away. They agreed to make shifts so that at least one of them could be alert, vigilant to keep feeding the fire!…In that manner, the beasts would be kept away. That happen for couple of hours, they were even teasing the lions with sticks on fire, and they would flee and pass within a good distance.
However the one who was supposed to be feeding the fire, fall asleep!…The one who was already sleeping woke up with groanings and roarings!… The lions were eating and mauling his friend!…He fled for his life, and climbed a tree, there is nothing he could have done for his friend.
Although is a sad history, we can draw a spiritual message from here:
- Whilst they were near the fire and feeding it,they were safe.
- Out of the realm of fire there was a real danger and the lions were waiting for an opportunity.
Many are those who say they are Christians, however they are out of the fire!…They don’t seek God’s Spirit, they don’t nourish or feed their spiritual life by coming to the church, making chain-of-prayer, etc…Hence the importance of coming to the church!…There you receive inspiration, guidance, strength, revival and connect with God. Reading your bible, praying, fast and above live all live a life of obedience, faithfulness and sacrificing your life to please God.
Then the fire ( Your faith in action, the Holy Spirit and the God’s fear) will keep you safe!…Many say: “One doesn’t need to go to church, pray by yourself!…I’m a believer but I don’t practice!..” SORRY BUT THAT’S NONSENSE!…
The Lions in this world are around to destroy us!...Depression, nervousness, addictions, sickness, suicidal thoughts, fears, doubts, lack of self esteem, grudges, hatred, malice, misery and scarcity, separation and divorce, prostitution, adultery, theft, bitterness of heart, etc…
Food for thought:
1 Peter 5:8
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
