Your Maidservant

Hanna's Vow

In this message we will go trough the character of a true servant of God!…Let me introduce you Hannah!…

What do we know about Hannah?

  • She was married with a priest
  • She was barren
  • She used to go early to God’s house to worship and sacrifice
  • She was provoked severely by the other wife Peninnah
  • Her husband would love her above the other wife and children
  • She made a vow to God

Now give a glance below:

1 Samuel 1

(NKJV)

So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the Lord. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to theLord and wept in anguish. 11 Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”

What stands up?

Yeah, that’s absolutely right!..The word Your maidservant!…

Now how could she serve God, if she would go to the temple once a year?

So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord,(…)

She served God with her character:

  • In spite of being barren she never left or abandoned her faith in God
  • She would not answer the provocations of her rival Peninnah
  • She was loved by her husband because she was a women with gentleness, peace and self-control
  • She didn’t get angry with the priest because he told her she was drunk
  • Her tone of voice was gentle and respectful

Indeed she was a different women, with a Godly fearful character. She was a true servant of God.

Serving God it’s not just when one goes to church or is involved in doing something regarding the work of God. It’s to be of God in your character and showing to others trough your conduct.

Hannah what a woman to admire in her character, thank you Pastor Elijah and Mrs Anna for this message.Hannah didnt stay away from god and quit worshipping because of experiencing great dissappointments. Even she was in pain she ran to the lord, and she reacted as if she was healed completely not just physical body but god restored her spirit through renewed faith and her emotional state by giving her gladness.

Dear Pr Elijah and Mrs Ana, This message is straight to the point, very strong, and very inspiring I must personally admit! That our inner character, personality and behaviour reflects who we truly are! Hannah’s character is a character that each and every woman should desire to have, no matter her barrenness she never abandoned her faith and trust in God. No matter the mockery she never answered back, she never got angry even when she told she was drunk! Her character is outstanding! On a day to day life as a woman we go through persecution, judged, mocked, just to name a few! Food for thought do we react or act? Hannah acted by using her faith and she continued to serve God with her character! Thank you once again! Each and everytime I read the blog messages the revelation is quite deep and self reflection!

I agree Pastor and Mrs Ana
    Serving God ….
It’s about serving Him with all areas of our life !
Is not about serving Him only when you are in the church or when the Pastor gives you a task .
Serving God means see God through others !
When you doing things for your family with all your love even on the difficult moments that your flesh desires to not to do you are serving Him!
When someone did something against you and you forgive you are serving Him!
In your workplace when you work hard and no one seams to recognize and you keep giving the best of you you are serving Him!
When you decide that your life will be a living testimony for His glory you are serving Him!
    I admire Hanna !

  6. Nancy says:

When I was new in the church, I could not understand this. I thought that only on the altar were the true servants of God. We can be precious to God even without being a priest, it is available to everyone ! (God is fair!)
