Boxing is supervised by a referee over a series of one- to three-minute intervals called rounds. The result is decided when an opponent is deemed incapable to continue by a referee, is disqualified for breaking a rule, resigns by throwing in a towel, or is pronounced the winner or loser based on the judges’ scorecards at the end of the contest.
After each round each fighter goes to the corner and sits downs to rest, and receives instructions from his trainer on how to perform better in the fight, to strenghten his weak points and take advantage of the adversary. If he is hurt or bleeding, the necessary procedures are taken to ensure he keeps on the fight. It’s extremelly important those minutes there at the corner, where he will be ready for one more round.
Now, the same happens in our life!..Life is made of “Rounds”, and we need that time where we go to a corner, to renew our strength, to receive instructions on how to overcome our adversaries, problems,set-backs and receive the water to be refreshed.
The corner is the church, the trainer is the pastor and the water is the Holy Spirit. We need that time to recharge our batteries, to receive God’s instructions trough the message given by the men of God and most certainly the living waters will overflow and empower us, to keep fighting the good fight.
Wednesdays and Sundays at the UCKG HelpCentre are God’s Corner.
See you there!..
