From all those Hebrews who left the Egypt slavery, around 3 Million people, only Joshua and Caleb and their generation were allowed to go in the Promised Land.
They have departed from the Living God!…They started to have an evil heart of unbelief.
In what way you may ask? They started to look to the circumstances, the hardship of the desert…They complained, murmured and rebelled against Moses and God!
They were eye witness of God’s power in Egypt:
- The 10 plagues.
- The opening of the red Sea.
- The Mana sent every day.
- The cloud by day.
- The column of fire by night.
- Water coming out in the wilderness.
- Meat provided in the desert.
What happened with them? In spite of all the evidence that God was with them, they still rebelled!…They died in the desert!..
Now let’s make an analogy with what has been happening with many Christians.
In spite of being witness of a cloud of testimonies, having their lives transformed, many were delivered, healed and got amazing testimonies. However with time, they got weary and started to go astray in their hearts, because of unanswered prayers and who knows set-backs and hardship.
The difficulties gave birth to doubts, complains, weariness, boredom and rebelliousness. Their eyes, heart and mind were diverted from course and one started to look behind.
Beware the same doesn’t happen to you!…Hold fast your confidence in God from the beginning to the end.
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; (…) For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, (…) 16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
